[The Columbian Star was a Southern Baptist weekly publication, published in five cities in three states, and achieved success at Atlanta, Georgia. It covered missionary and temperance societies, and religious news; but dealt more with the philosophical and spiritual topics of religion such as "On Drawing Near to God," "The Way of Man is Not in Himself," "Love of Christ," and "Horrors of Atheism." The later editions contain many advertisements for "wonder" drugs. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.]
